OBIT - TURNER, Robert StClair

"A life that touches the hearts of others lives on forever."

Numerous persons were blessed to share the love of Robert StClair (Bob) Turner lI, of Roanoke, Va., and to witness a significant legacy that will Coach Bags always be cherished. Bob was the eldest of two children born to the late Mary Payne Turner and Robert S. Turner Sr. in Winston Salem, N.C., on September 8, 1935.

On the Lord's Day, Friday, August 20, 2010, God beckoned for Bob to enter the land of peace and happiness in which he received his crown for the meaningful life he lived for approximately 75 years. He was a loyal member of Loudon Avenue Christian Church, Gamma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Pine Valley Golf Association, Chums/Hums Social Club, Apple Ridge Farm, Roanoke Area Ministries, YMCA and NAACP, to mention a few of his affiliations.

Precious memories of Bob's rewarding life are to be treasured by his partner forever, Barbara Holland, of Roanoke, Va.; daughter, Terra Turner, of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, John (Jewel) Turner; and grandson, Michael Turner, all of Gardner, N.Y.; aunts, Mary Turner, of Winston Salem, N.C., and Elaine Ware, of Roanoke; special cousins, Gregory, Anne, Matthew and Ashley, of Winston Salem, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Leonard Armstrong, Mitzi Turner, Howard Johnson and Theresa Johnson; god daughters, Suzanne Jones, Kia and Mykiah Sherman; his extraordinary buds, Harold Franklin, Billy Boy, Billy Gilbert, Bill Sherman, Miss Rochelle, Elaine Neal, Reggie and Gerri Davis, Tim and Joanne Williams, and High Pockets; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, both in the United States and abroad.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 5050 RGB Controller LD-CON-12-M a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Loudon Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. William L. Lee officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Friends may call on Thursday afternoon, August 26, 2010, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. The interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Winston Salem, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Loudon Avenue Christian Church Scholarship Fund, 730 Loudon Avenue, NW, 24016; Roanoke Area Ministries RAM House, 825 Campbell Avenue, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24016 and Apple Ridge Farm, 541 Luck Avenue, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24016, in memory of Bob.
